The middle east can be a rather expensive place to visit, especially the United Arab Emirates. However, there are a lot of things to do, see and enjoy during your time there which can be achieved even within a budget. Here are a few free things to try during your next visit to Abu Dhabi!

A Camel Souk

A souk is an Arab marketplace, also commonly known as a bazaar. Now, imagine a Camel Souk! A rather interesting experience for those interest, the Al Ain Camel Souk lies southeast of Jabel Hafeet. This is your chance to witness the camel trade first hand and see how things work here. Remember to put on conservative clothing as this place is quite traditional. The Al Ain Camel Souk is 20 miles away from the peak of Jebel Hafeet Mountain.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world, with the amazing ability to hold up to 41,000 worshippers at any given time. When one visits Abu Dhabi, it's an absolute must to visit this gorgeous mosque, and it's rather hard to miss as it possesses absolute beauty, from the outside and even more so on the inside. The mosque is a careful combination of beauty and religion, and has 82 domes, gold plated chandeliers, 1000 columns and the biggest hand woven carpet to exist.

The corniche

The simplest yet most relaxing thing you can do in Abu Dhabi for free is a stroll around the corniche. There's a number of activities you can do here, such as walking down the length of the promenade, cycle, read a book or simple enjoy and take in the view of the beach and the sea. Better yet, if you stick around for longer you'll be able to catch a jaw-dropping sunset!

Jebel Hafeet Mountain

The Jebel Hafeet Mountain spans the UAE-Oman border and has an altitude of over 4000 feet! In fact, the Jebel Hafeet Moutain ranks the second-highest mountain in the country and carries significant historical importance. The best part, the mountain has one of the smoothest driving roads ever, weaving through the mountains of limestone to the summit. At the summit, visitors are gifted with sights of Al Ain and Oman!

Cycling

Looking for a day of cycling with a lot fewer people? The finest cycling area in Abu Dhabi is the Al Wathba track and the road is open all day and night. The lights in this area are solar powered so there will be no difficulty riding in the night as there's plenty of light to see where you're going!
