Hidden gems to discover in Melbourne - Unseen locations

Melbourne is a populated city in Australia and when you explore the city you understand how and why it is so, but if you wish to do some research you can find some hidden gems to explore in the city.

1

Hosier Lane

Not located too far from most of the places to stay in Melbourne, Hosier Lane is the perfect location for those who love to explore street art. Hosier Lane is a narrow path that is covered with work of various artists professional and amateur and it is undisputedly the most colourful street in Melbourne. Located near the Federation Square the Hosier Lane is a short walk away so you can make a visit if you are in the vicinity. If it is during summer, you will be able to see artists at work creating their street art. There are many different types of media used and you can talk to the artists if you are interested in their work.

2

Gin Palace

Melbourne's Gin Palace is located in a basement that can be accessed by walking along a dark and dodgy pathway that is dark and somewhat creepy. However, once you enter the bar, the atmosphere is completely different as you will be able to enjoy some lovely music, sit on luxurious couches, cushions alongside drapes in silks and velvet. On World Gin Day which falls on June, the bar hosts classes for those who would like to learn about mixing drinks.

3

Easey's

It is not only the food that attracts people to Easey's, but it is also the fact that the restaurant is located inside an old discarded train carriage, which has been placed on a rooftop of an existing building. Located not too far from properties such as Avani Melbourne Box Hill Residences this is a restaurant you will want to make several visits to as the burgers and the fish and chips along with the music is the perfect combination to make memories at.

4

Coop's Shot Tower

Shopping is a must when travelling and malls are the most popular shopping destinations when you are in another country. Melbourne Central is a popular shopping mall, but what is not commonly known is the fact that the shopping mall has a shot tower built-in 1888 standing in the centre of the building being covered and protected by a novel architectural structure. Since the building is listed in the heritage building in Melbourne it can not be deconstructed and if you wish to earn more about it there is a small museum on the second floor of the mall.

5

Night Markets

Unlike in Asian countries, Night markets are not very popular in Australia but the night markets that happen at Queen Victoria Market is a great location to explore if you can make your way towards it. The stalls take place all year-round and they come alive around five in the afternoon with music, street food and performances by budding artists.

6

Cat Cafe

Ever wished you could be surrounded by cats - big and small? Then your wish can come true when you visit the Cat Cafe located off Guildford Lane in Melbourne. Hidden away from the public eye, this is a place you can easily miss if you were not looking for it specifically. The furballs are friendly and fluffy and you can enjoy a cuppa while you be in their company.
