Sri Lanka is a stunning little island that is known as paradise on Earth and when you visit the island and witness the green mountains, the white sandy beaches and the stunning landscapes you will understand why it is called so. There are so many different places you can visit, which are mother nature's gifts to us all. The Nilaweli Beach, the Galle Beach and Arugam Bay are some of the most popular beaches located around the island. Sinharaja, Knuckles and Adam's peak are some of the attractions for those who wish to hike in the wilderness. There are paddy fields that stretch far and wide making the area look like a green sea that blows in the wide and if you love animals, there are several locations you can visit in order to see wildlife thriving in their natural habitat.

Sri Lankans that you meet all over the island have one thing in common, and that is that they are always willing to help out even a complete stranger. Even if you require directions, a meal or a place to stay, most of these strangers who you haven't met ever in your life will be willing to treat you like family. However, you need to keep in mind that English is not the mother tongue of Sri Lanka and there may be language barriers when you are travelling in certain cities and villages. Public Transport is an experience

Sri Lanka is a developing country and the public transport system is not the best option when you are travelling a short distance or long distance. The best public transport method is to take the train and this is when it comes to long-distance travelling as the trains are quite packed during peak hours for short distances. The train ride from Colombo to Badulla is known to be one of the most scenic train rides in Asia and it is a must-do activity when you are on the island.

Sri Lanka is a multi-religious and multicultural country where there are many Buddhists, Hindus and Christians. You will come across many religious locations you can visit and it is important to remember to be respectful at these locations even if you might not share the same spiritual or religious beliefs.
