Top Ways Of Getting Organised

At Box-it we understand the importance of being organised. Here we list a number of things which will help you get organised in your day to day life.

8

Establish Where Things Go

Ensure each item has a specific place to go. This doesn't mean putting all of your paperwork into a pile on your desk, it means categorise your paperwork and have specific files for each category. This also refers to online and offline items - no more cluttered desktops.

7

Put Things Away

Put Things Away

Ok so now everything have its own specific place, put things back in their places as soon as you finish with them. This will avoid piles building up and the requirement for a significant amount of time to get back in order.

6

Use A Schedule/ Planning System

Use A Schedule/ Planning System

The format of this will differ from person to person. Some may prefer a written to-do list while others will have a computerised schedule - But nonetheless the principle is the same. Map out exactly what you are going to do each day and stick to it. This sets clear goals and avoids time wasting when trying to decide which task to move on to next.

5

Do Similar Tasks Together

When planning your schedule make sure you group similar tasks together. This will allow you to focus on one type of task at a time rather than having to chop and change from one mind frame to another.

4

Don't Take On Too Much

Don't Take On Too Much

Number 3 referred to setting goals. It is important when creating a schedule and goals that you make them realistic. Its not motivational when you continually don't meet your targets. So take a realistic approach to how much you can fit in to a day and ensure your schedule reflects this.

3

Always Keep Back Ups

Always Keep Back Ups

Again this refers to both online and offline activity. Any work you carry out, ensure you always have a back up. This might be a separate file on the server or a photocopy of the handwritten notes from that presentation. Either way it avoids wasting time if the original is misplaced.

2

Make A List Every Night

Make A List Every Night

Each night make a list of all of the things you intend to achieve the following day. This will avoid you wasting time the following morning when trying to decide what to do, but will also clear your head making it much easier for you to achieve a good nights sleep.

1

Get Enough Sleep

Get Enough Sleep

And finally, make sure you get enough sleep. Without enough sleep your productivity the following day will only suffer meaning you are less likely to maintain your new organised lifestyle.
