Citizens of Utah are privileged to live near one of the best racing spots in the country, as well as a wide range of open road. However, how much cooler would your Utah driving be, with one of your favorite futuristic cars? Here we’ve compiled a list of our top three futuristic cars, that would make your Utah commute, feel just a bit more badass.
The futuristic world of Tron brought with it an extremely individualistic style and flare. The movies’ glow-in-the-dark futuristic style was all the rage in both the 80’s, as well as in the 2010 reboot. The Lightrunner completely embodies this Tron-esque style, with a sleek black design, and its glowing accents. The Lightrunner not only has the same awesome style as the light cycles, but it also has that added Batman flare of being a car, with lots of built-in gadgetry. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with its own Olivia Wilde to cruise around Utah with you, but a man can dream.
These speeding car pods used style and futuristic technology to make the audience drool with jealousy. While different from the average jalopy cruising down the Utah I-15, these cars were able to scale walls, as well as move both horizontal and vertically. However, the major reason why they are on this list is the fact that they were hardly cars at all. Taking a good hard look at this surprisingly decent movie, you notice that their cars are in fact mobile lounges, with seats facing inwards in a circle. With complete auto-pilot navigation, these futuristic cars, whether new or used, are better than anything we will have in our time. I can’t tell you how much I would love a mobile, auto-pilot lounge that would drive me around Utah without a care in the world…but alas, I dream.
The dream car of every little boy of the 90’s, the DeLorean DMC-12 (with a flux capacitor), Better known as the car from Back to the Future, is definitely number one on our list. Despite being ugly as sin, this car was the dream car of every boy growing up in the 90’s. With its gull-wing style doors, and neo-futuristic looking interior, this car reeks of tackiness. However, I can’t think of any futuristic movie car that I’d rather have. What made this car cool was the added technology of being able to travel through time, and on top of that being so ugly. Marty McFly absolutely said it best, “A DeLorean?! You put a time machine…in a DELOREAN!?” Growing up most of us thought about how cool it would be to own a DeLorean, but as we got older we saw how truly unappealing a used DeLorean was, and the joke of the movie became clearer. However, what makes this car go to number one on the list is the fact that it’s only cool because of the futuristic time-traveling technology added to it.
