5 Unconventional nature spots in Singapore that aren’t your usual pick – Eccentricities of Singapore

In terms of culture and history, Singapore is a typical travel destination that people love to visit. But when it comes to nature, Singapore becomes a lot different from the other destinations.

1

About Singapore

Singapore is an excellent tourist destination located in Asia. A city-state with its own administration rights, Singapore attracts tourists, business people and those seeking employment. The cultural diversity is the signature of Singapore. People are very welcoming to foreigners, and the likes of Park Hotel Farrer Park take care of the lodging needs of those who visit. This city-state doesn't have a lot of land area; however, there are many nature spots to be seen here.

2

Urban farms

Although there isn't much land, people here somehow manage to enjoy farming and grow their own vegetables and fruits. While you are strolling through a residential area, you'll most likely encounter the concept of urban farms. At first, everybody thought it was a fad, but people in Singapore seem to really like the idea. Urban farms give a touch of green to the built environment while increasing the food supply resilience of the country. Rooftop farming is one of the newest and most innovative ideas, which has given the people in Singapore chance at self-sustainability.

3

Unconventional parks

Apart from the famous Botanic Gardens – which happens to be the first UNESCO Heritage site in the country – Singapore has an eccentric set of gardens. These gardens are the result of the human enthusiasm to want to be close to nature. Gardens by the Bay, for example, is a manmade garden loved by both locals and tourists. The admission is free, but if you want to attend the exhibitions, there's a fee.

4

Unique spas

You'd think that spa culture can only be nurtured by a country that's packed with green expanses. But in Singapore, there's a unique set of spas that offer an experience which you'll not forget in a hurry. Besides, the climate in Singapore can exhaust you, so getting a spa treatment is a must. Also, it would be easier to get to a spa if you stayed at a hotel in Farrer Park. Spas in Singapore draw inspiration from other cultures, including Japan, India and Thailand. This is to say that there's a range of spa treatments for you to choose from.

5

Reservoirs and dams

Within this busy city are several reservoirs and dams. Most of them are manmade, but nature spots nevertheless. Upper Pierce Reservoir, MacRitchie Reservoir, Rochor Canal and Marina Barrage are a few of the nature spots you must visit while in Singapore.

6

Reflexology paths

Singapore has laid out several reflexology paths where people can take off their shoes and walk. They are smooth paths laid with pebbles. You can find the like at the Botanic Gardens, Tiong Bahru Park, Katong Park, the Garden City and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

When to visit Singapore

Singapore is a year-round destination, but if you want to visit when everything about your vacation can be perfect, choose the period from December to June. February to April is when the country experiences the least amount of rain and thus the lowest humidity. Singapore weather is pretty consistent, but if you intend to do some sightseeing, visit during the months of July to November. The weather is welcoming enough for tourists, but make sure you have an umbrella with you when you head out. Don't forget to wear sunscreen with a good percentage of SPF; the sunrays can be pretty damaging to the skin. Drink plenty of water and try to eat healthy while you are here.
