Things to pack for your winter holiday – Don’t let the cold disrupt your travel plans

Winter getaways can all be fun and exciting, but you have to expect rains and heavy snowfalls in addition to the winds and the cold temperatures. Different destinations experience winter in different ways, and you need to pack your luggage accordingly by thinking smartly.

1

Pack your medicine

Being safe is always better than being sorry! So, be prepared for any kind of illness that you'd possibly get during your tour. Considering the cold temperatures, one of the most possible concern you'd get is a cough. Pack a cough syrup as a remedy, and it's as simple as that. Today, you have sachet packs of cough syrup- so it's easier to carry than ever before. You may also catch a fever if the cold weather is intense, and in that case, you need to pack the relevant medicine too. Take a pain relief medication, a nasal decongestant to use if the need arises.

2

Pack winter clothes

First of all, you need to have a good down jacket. This will protect you against the hard winter winds, and it's even better if you could find a waterproof down jacket. If the weather is unpredictable and if there's any probability where the temperature can even go below 0 degrees Celsius, you need to have a set of thermal underwear too. Although most often underrated, scarves are also a must-include when packing for a winter getaway.

3

Pack the other wear(s)

It's not just about the down jackets and thermal underwear, but also about the other accessories. Keep in mind that a jacket hood will not always offer the protection you need against the harsh winter conditions. This is why you need to pack a heat-retaining beanie and mittens for yourself. It offers you added protection, and you need that at some point. Then come the boots and gloves which are also very important. Keeping your feet and fingers dry is of vital importance during winter.

4

Lip balm and moisturizers

Winters are dry and the humidity levels can be very low. You will get chapped lips more often, and the harsh winter winds will surely worsen it all. So, be wise and take a good lip balm with you when you go. This applies not just to the ladies out there, but even to the gents. Anyone could get chapped lips and only a lip balm can grant you relief! The same logic applies to moisturizers as well.

5

Torchlight

If you are spending your vacation at a property owned by popular chains like Minor Hotels or any other lodge that belongs to one of the major hotel chains, you won't have anything to worry about your safety, and you'll not need a torchlight at all. But, you will surely need one if you've planned to travel to a rural location. Don't rely on your phone torch at a time like this as batteries tend to drain fast in the winter. So, be prepared!
