Muscat is not only the capital city but also the most populated city in Oman which is also the most visited tourist city in the country and given below are 5 places to visit when in the city.

Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque

In commemoration of the 30th year of the Sultan's rule, the largest among the Grand Mosques in Oman was unveiled in 2001. The mosque is known as the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque named after the honoured Sultan and is one of the most beautiful mosques to have been ever built. It is able to accommodate 20,000 worshippers at once and also has a public library.

Royal Opera House

When you are in Muscat visiting the Royal Opera House is definitely on the list of things to do in Muscat as it is a stunning building as well as a historically important one. This building is a work of art and is known to be one of a kind opera house which is unique to the whole country and it hosts some of the most prestigious international events during different times of the year. There is a strict dress code to abide by if you were to attend an event at the Royal Opera House.

Mutrah city

During the time the country was known as Muscat and Oman the main port was the main port city Mutrah was the trading hub and the most popular city as well. This used to be the main harbour in Oman before development began and the main activities and the capital city moved to Muscat. The souqs ain Mutrah are still very popular among tourists as they sell unique, crafted products which have been done traditionally. Some of the items may be similar but if you browse through you will be able to find some unique carpets, purses, bags and rugs that are absolutely stunning and have been brought to life through crafts that have passed hands through many generations. When in Mutrah city you can also visit the port to witness a stunning view of the harbour and port alongside the city.

The Walk is the perfect touristy location to go and take photos to make your social media followers envy you. There is a luxurious gold course, expensive housing in the area, international hotels and resorts alongside high-end restaurants that serve divinely delicious food. Even if you are staying out of The Walk and at a hotel such as the Al Falaj Hotel Oman you can make your way to The Walk because it is a must-visit location when you are in Muscat.

Al Sifa Beach

Only 45 minutes away from Muscat city the Al Sifa Beach is a popular party destination among the locals. It is also a great place to go on a day trip if you wish to get away from sightseeing and look forward to relaxing and enjoying some time with your family or friends. You are allowed to have your own picnics, BBQs and tents in order to make the best of your time spent on the beach. The beach is also a great location to go for a drive while chasing the setting sun.
