5 Things To Do in Townsville Australia and Magnetic Island – Amazing experiences await!

While there are so many locations you can visit in Australia and adding Townville to the places to visit will not be a decision you will regret as some amazing experiences are awaiting you.

1

Castle Hill

Castle Hill comes to the top of the list for things to do in Townsville as it is the tallest mountain in the area and located in the centre of the city. It is visible from all areas of Townsville and when you get to the top you are able to see different views of the city from the top. The climb is not hard and enjoyable but it is recommended to make the hike in the morning hours or towards the evening after sunset.

2

The Stran and the Strand Waterpark

The Stran is the perfect place to go for a stroll to get away from the madness of being a tourist. It is a beautiful waterfront area with a beach, a pool, a playground on land and water, a jetty, cafes, and parks. There are so many different activities that you can do at the strand and make several visits during your trip if you are within the city for hotel accommodation. Townsville Strand Waterpark is another exciting excursion for adults and children alike as there are numerous activities you can do together and individually that will make you want to spend hours and hours at the waterpark.

3

Reef HQ

It goes without saying that Reef HQ should be on your bucket list when you visit Townsville because it is the largest living reef aquarium you can come across and is an unforgettable experience for everyone who opts for it. You can learn so much information about the Great Barrier Reef and also have a wonderful experience and this is a must-do activity especially if you do not wish to make a special trip to see the Great Barrier Reef.

4

Museum of Tropical Queensland

The word museum would generally put you off unless you are a history enthusiast but the difference with the Museum of Tropical Queensland is that it is nothing like any other regular Museum even though the name says so. You can find numerous activities for children which allows them to educate themselves about nature, barrier reefs, marine life and the tropical world as the whole and there are some very interactive and interesting exhibits for adults which will keep you interested in the displays, the details and the whole museum from beginning to end. Many people make the mistake of allocating a small amount of time for the museum but if you are at the Oaks Townsville Gateway Suites or any other hotel in the vicinity you will be able to make a second visit to the museum if time permits.

5

Magnetic Island

Magnetic Island is a must-visit location when you are in Townsville. It is a small stunning little island located about 20 minutes away from Townsville and from the time you get on the ferry for the trip to the island till you come back to the land you will love the experience. If you wish to relax and just enjoy nature as it was intended to, you can definitely do so on Magnetic Island. If you wish to try your hand at some water sports such as jet-skiing, waterboarding, diving, and snorkelling you can definitely do that as well.
