Oklahoma City Paving is a leading concrete paving company serving the Oklahoma City area. We pave driveways, sidewalks, patios, and also offer stamped concrete services. We wanted to take a minute and create a list that briefly explains the concrete paving service.
Although concrete work can be done yourself, we highly recommend that larger projects are completed by a professional concrete paving company. This is mainly because of the additional labor and equipment required to get the job done in a timely fashion. Really, for any size concrete project, you only have approximately an hour (2 maximum) because the concrete will set. If the project is too large, you will not be able to have it all paved in time. Also, smaller specialty projects, such as stamped concrete, require special stamps and equipment-it is simply not cost effective to buy stamps for one time use.
When preparing for a concrete project, first you must decide the thickness of concrete to be poured. Most patios and driveways are between 4" to 6". Dirt should be removed for the desired area. Next, wood frames should be built. For smaller projects that are not load bearing and less than 6" thick do not need rebar. Larger projects, especially load bearing slabs such as driveways, need rebar installed. Rebar reinforces the strength of concrete. On the other hand, projects such as sidewalks paving projects, do not need rebar.
Large projects, such as paving parking lots, need to have rebar. Additionally, you must consider to divide the parking lot paving into sections to avoid cracking. Frame work must include dividers for the parking lot.
We paved this concrete patio at a new construction home in Oklahoma City. We were able to complete this paving within one day. The concrete for this patio is 6" thick.
