Best things to do in Oman – Make your days in Oman extra colourful

Oman is a travel destination that's becoming popular day by day. What tourists love the most about Oman is not just its impressive network of infrastructure, but also the friendliness of its people and its amazing set of attractions. Read this article to fall more in love with Oman.

1

Visit Wadi Shab

Located around 1.5 hours' drive away from Oman's capital- Muscat is Wadi Shab, a must-visit during your days in Oman. On your way to explore the amazing waterfall, you will get to see many emerald green water pools and many caves as well. The journey will be more like a hike, but there are many places to stop by and relax. Visit this beautiful place with an impressive scenic beauty in the morning to avoid the midday heat.

2

Camp in the desert

Did you know that you can camp in the Oman Desert just like you'd do in the Sahara Desert in North Africa? This will be a different experience than spending your days in a luxury hotel in Wahiba Sands, but you are guaranteed all the safety and comforts. Thanks to the novel initiatives such as Desert Nights Camp travellers can now camp in the desert and enjoy a different experience. You may adore the endless dune views and stargaze at night. Try out this experience during October and March (winter) because summer temperatures will not be bearable to many of you.

3

Head to the Sultan Qaboos Mosque

Oman has many spiritual sites, but the Sultan Qaboos Mosque always takes a very special place on the list. It was opened to the public in 2001 and lies proudly in Muscat, Oman's capital city. You'll love everything about its architectural design, and most importantly, the fact that it's not as crowded as most of the other religious attractions. Entrance to the mosque is free, but please note that you'll have to wear long-sleeved tops and long pants (or skirts) when you visit this place.

4

Dip in Bimmah Sinkhole

When the temperature tends to be too hot, how about having a good swim in a natural swimming pool? Right next to the main road near Wadi Shab is Bimmah Sinkhole which is a huge pool with bright blue coloured water. According to the locals, this hole has been created by a massive meteor and there's no evidence to deny that too.

5

Drive to the Jabal Akhdar Mountains

If you are in for a hike or a rock climbing adventure when in Oman, here's the right option for you. Jabal Akhdar is a remote area with spectacular mountains, but not many tourists say yes to this experience. Get your 4*4 ready and enjoy quite steep slopes on your way.

6

Explore the Nizwa Fort

Oman has many castles, but this Nizwa Fort is considered one of the oldest and most beautiful. You will have to pay an entrance fee of 11 USD to enter the Fort, but everything from its stories to the views will make you fall in love with this place over and over again.
