Ideally situated in Kuta, Pura Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most spectacular temples not only in Indonesia but in Asia at large. Quietly nestled in a seaside location, the rocky islet on which the temple is situated provides a dramatic backdrop for this famous Hindu temple. Considered sacred by locals and Hindu devotees alike, the temple dates back to the 16th century and is believed to have been built to pay homage to a holy monk named Nirartha who spent a night at the location. The panoramic views alone are worth the trip to the venue which also offers easy access to Batu Bolong, a neighbouring sea temple of equal beauty.
