Best beaches to explore in Koh Samui - Beaches you simply must visit!

Koh Samui is a great place to visit when it comes to exploring and winding down and it goes without saying that one of the main attractions is the stunning beaches located around Samui island. While there are so many people who come to explore Thailand and decide to make a quick visit to the island most of them are mesmerised by the numerous beaches on the island and decide to extend their trips or come back for a longer vacation.

1

Chaweng

The first beach on the list is the most popular beach on Samui Island as it is also the largest beach in Koh Samui. While this is one of the most exciting beaches it is also one of the most crowded beaches you will come across on your trip to Koh Samui. There are so many different restaurants, bars and other attractions that have come up along the coast due to the demand, that the location is a town on its own. You can visit the beach several times a day even if you are staying at a nearby hotel or resort. Koh Samui is a laid-back island that is perfect for those who wish to have a quiet and relaxing vacation.

2

Lamai

Lamai is the second-largest resort town after Chaweng and the Lamai beach is absolutely stunning and there is no question as to why this beach is so popular. The large granite boulder rocks are one of the unique factors about Lamai Beach and the resorts and hotels around the area makes a visit to the beach unforgettable.

3

Bophut

Bophut is popular not only for the beach that spreads far and wide along many kilometres but also due to the old fishing village which is a popular tourist attraction. Located between Bangrak and Maenam, the Bophut beach is a delightful place to make a day trip to. Easily accessible from most hotels and resorts such as Avani+ Samui Resort the Bophut beach is also the perfect location to head to if you are travelling with kids.

4

Maenam

Originally known as backpacker area as it is secluded, peaceful and away from many resorts and restaurants, the Maenam beach has been gaining popularity among tourists over the last few years. The beach is located in a secluded place which makes it perfect for those who wish to spend a relaxing day at the beach in their own time undisturbed by vendors, restaurants and street hawkers. Accommodation is available in the area but is located a few kilometres away which is one of the main reasons the beach has remained beautiful.

5

Choeng Mon

Located not too far from the neighbouring beach Maenam, the Choeng Mon is another quiet and peaceful beach but not as popular as the former. With only a handful of hotels and resorts located on the beach, the beauty and serenity of the beach have continued to flourish. Another main attraction of Choeng Mon apart from the serenity is the fact that there is a wonderful location to go diving or snorkelling which is only about 700 metres away from the beach itself. The rock formation on side of the beach is the reason for the diving paradise as you can go and become one with nature and enjoy the marine life.
