Indian cinema has completed 100 years of existence. Here is the list of highest grossing Bollywood movies worldwide.
3 Idiots is an inspirational comedy-drama film directly by Rajkumar Hirani. It was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat's bestselling novel Five Point Someone. Released on December 25, 2009, the film grossed Rs. 202.45 crore in India, and Rs.392 crore ($92 million).
The film stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and R Madhavan.
Ek Tha Tiger is a spy-thriller film starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Directed by Kabir Khan, the movie depicts the story of an Indian secret agent codenamed Tiger (Salman Khan). Tiger is on a secret mission to monitor a Trinity College scientist's activities, who has sold missile technology to Pakistan. While on mission, Tiger falls in love with Zoya, a Pakistani secret agent.
Despite receiving mised reviews from critics, the film went on to earn Rs.196 crore in domestic market.
Dabangg 2 is the sequel of highly successful action-masala entertainer Dabangg. Produced under the banner of Arbaaz Khan productions, the film stars Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. Prakash Raj is the antagonist.
It was the second highest grossing film of 2012 after Ek Tha Tiger. Though Dabangg 2 received mostly negative reviews from critics, it was declared a blockbuster in India and Superhit in overseas markets. At the end of its run, the film earned Rs.156 crore in India and Rs.266 crore worldwide.
Superstar Shahrukh Khan, gives an electrifying performance as Samar Anand, a hard working young immigrant in the city of London, where he glimpses upon the love of his life, a gorgeous angelic looking girl, (Katrina Kaif). They meet and their bond blossoms into love with time spent together.
