Best Diving Sites in the Maldives – It’s a paradise for divers

To dive with the whale sharks and manta rays, to explore the most vibrant corals of all, and to investigate the shipwrecks as you wish, diving in the Maldives is simply the best option. Check out some of the many dive sites in the Maldives that can make your dive moments greater.

1

Maaya Thila

If the currents are good, the entire Maaya Thila can be dived in one dive, and that's the most special thing about here. To make the dive experience more exciting, there are a lot of caves here, and overhangs as well. Divers also get the chance to explore many species of marine life including snappers, eagle rays, and barracudas, and this is one of the few spots in the Maldives where you can explore whitetip reef sharks closely.

2

Baros

During your peaceful holiday spent at Baros Maldives, you get to explore the very first EcoDive Centre (certified by the International Reef Creek) in the Maldives, and it's indeed an awesome experience. You get the chance to swim with harmless reef sharks and sea turtles while spotting many other colourful breeds of fish. Since this dive centre has been in 1979 it has won the trust and love of many divers all around the world over the years.

3

HP Reef

Located in the North Male Atoll, HP Reef is also known as the Rainbow Reef by the travellers. If someone makes a list of the most beautiful dive sites in the Maldives, HP Reef will definitely secure a good place on the list, because it's indeed beautiful with caves, crevices, and reef on the top reef. Reef sharks, soft corals, and eagle rays are common sights when diving in the HP reef, and it's also the favourite dive spot among the travellers holidaying in nearby hotels.

4

Maamigili Beru Reef

Although many Maldives resort packages include diving sessions when offering special deals, some dive spots are not great for beginners because of the status of the currents. But, the Maamigili Beru Reef is great even for the first-timers and here, you get the wonderful chance of diving with whale sharks.

5

Miyaru Kandu

This dive site is only recommended for medium-advanced level divers as the currents are much stronger here. However, Miyaru Kandu is indeed the best place to spot hammerhead sharks in the Maldives. The word 'Miyaru' itself means the 'shark' in the Maldivian local language, and yes, that makes sense!

6

Hanifaru Bay

Some dive sites only have whale sharks, and some only have manta rays. But, did you know that in the Hanifaru Bay, both of these species can be spotted together? While diving, you may be able to explore 6-8 whale sharks together with hundreds of mantas and it's such a great view to see and capture (if possible!)

7

Chaaya Reef

It's the house reef of Ellaidhoo, North Ari Atoll, and is well-known among the divers for its immense beauty. To add colour to your dive moment, there is also a wreck positioned 15m away from the jetty.
