Eerie Abandoned Buildings in Bangkok – Creepy and dangerous, yet interesting!

It's a fact that Bangkok is a destination blessed with many high-end buildings that usually tower over the cityscape. However, there are also some buildings that began to be constructed but were never completed. Here are a few of them!

1

The Ghost House

Although the name 'Ghost House' sounds like the name of a horror-themed park, it's really not! It's a building with 49 stories (a strange number indeed) that was supposed to be a luxury housing project. The name given for it was 'the Sathorn Unique Tower' and it's a fact that the higher you go up in the building, the more beautiful the views get of the Chao Phraya River. However, the recession faced by the Thai economy put the construction project on hold, and ever since then, its construction has never been recommenced. Today, it's home for the destitute, and quite unfortunately, a suicidal spot as well. In 2014, a dead body was found on the 43rd floor highlighting the need of guarding this building. This building can't be accessed by visitors, but they say, if you bribe the guards, they will simply let you in. They say this building is haunted and many other stories revolve around it too, but you never know the reality!

2

ICE Tower

Although it's not as odd as the Ghost Tower, the Ice Tower is also an abandoned building as a result of the Tom Yung Kung financial crash in Thailand. It's smaller than the Sathorn Unique Tower (Ghost Tower), but it also offers great views of the city once you are at higher levels. This building was supposed to be an office complex, and thus the rooms you find inside are wider than what you find in the Ghost Tower. You are allowed to visit this building (but, strangely on some days, you won't be allowed- strange!) and make sure you carry a flashlight with you as it's very dark inside.

3

Bang Rak Fire Station

Unlike the Ghost Tower and the ICE Tower, the Bang Rak Fire Station is not a skyscraper. This building has been constructed in 1890 and is located very close to the Chao Phraya River. It was initially a customs house and then was converted into a fire station. Although it's closed today, many photographers and other visitors come here to take beautiful, vintage-looking photographs. Yes, it's a spot for artistic photoshoots in Bangkok today!

4

The Plane Graveyard

It's a massive area hidden in Bangkok in which you can find two 747s and two other smaller planes. These planes are not used today, and now are homes to the homeless. Although there is a board saying 'Visitors not allowed' at the entrance, you may pay some bahts and get in. Take some photographs, explore the adaptability skills of Thais and leave the place because, whatever said and done, it's a private place today for those who live there.
