Koneswaram Temple is located conveniently for travellers, as along the way to this scintillating piece of architecture, one can make a stop at Fort Frederik. Once you reach the Koneswaram, you'd notice that it is surrounded by the ocean from three sides. It is indeed a striking monument that towers over the ocean as if speaking of its history of over three millenniums. While you're on the top, you will be rewarded with the breathtaking views of the whole region. The hill pretty much plays the role of the pedestal to this iconic place of worship. The many legends that are woven around this Hindu temple are carved on its entrance. At the back of the temple is a small courtyard, where you can take that famous snap of the bay of Trincomalee. Yet another iconic sight of this temple premises is the magnificent statue of King Ravana, who faces the temple as if worshipping the relic inside.
