Do's and Don'ts on a Beach Trip -Tips for a fun holiday in the sun!

Beach trips are absolutely exciting if you are with the right crowd during the right time of the year and here are some details on what to do and what not to do to make the best of you beach trip.

1

Do pack what you might require

Certain items such as sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, a coverup and towels are must-haves when you are going to the beach and it is best to pack the items you know you will definitely need so you will not be bothering others to borrow from them or waste valuable time shopping for the essentials.

2

Do not litter

The beach is not a private property so it is vital to keep in mind to not pollute the environment. Most hotels and resorts have staff that will tend to matters and clean the surrounding of the hotel premises but that does not justify leaving behind any litter when you are leaving the beach or any public area.

3

Do maintain distance from other travellers

Travelling is a leisure activity and should not cause any stress upon other travellers or even travellers from the same group. With the outbreak of COVI-19, you must maintain a distance from others out of courtesy of being respectful for their personal space and in order to avoid any health risks. Unless you are travelling together and are aware of the risks of spending time close to one another it is best to maintain a healthy distance from all visitors so you are able to protect yourself and make sure you are protecting the others around you.

4

Do not blast loud music

You may love resting by the beach listening to your favourite music playing loud but this is disrespectful to others you are in the vicinity. If you wish to blast the music loud it is important to do it on the headset so you do not cause any discomfort to the others who might be looking forward to spending some peaceful quality time in the same surrounding as you are. Most Negombo beach hotels such as the Heritance Negombo have garden umbrellas set up by the beach or cabanas set up by the beach so customers can enjoy some quality time in the tropical island. Even when you are in your room, unless the room is soundproof it is unacceptable to play extremely loud music that will disturb the stay for the others around you.

5

Do be respectful of other

When you are dressing for public places keep in mind that Sri Lanka is a conservative country and that there are certain etiquettes and practices you need to follow. Wearing bikinis and bathing suits is accepted at the beach or the pool but if you are going for a stroll ina public location you have to make sure you wear a coverup, a summer dress or even a sarong over your swimming clothing

6

Do not display public Display of Affection (PDA)

Sri Lanka being a Buddhist country follow strict rules of no PDA and this should be adhered to by those who visit the country. While it is alright to hold hands and hug it is frowned upon to kiss or make-out in public so you should be mindful where you are when you are displaying your affection to your loved ones.,
