5 Things to Do in Livingstone, Zambia – Explore the amazing destination and its thrills

Livingstone is one of the most famous cities in Africa and one of the most visited cities as well. Many tourists fall in love with the place once they visit. Here are a few things to do just close to the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

1

Visit Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is located in both Zambia and Zimbabwe. This is the main attraction on the border. Just at the falls, there is so much to do. You can either explore by yourself without a guide. However, if you are not confident exploring alone or would like more details on the area, go for a local guide. The locals call the falls Mosi-oa-Tunya which means The Smoke That Thunders. Walk across the Knife Edge Bridge or for more thrill try exploring the top of the waterfall.

2

Go white water rafting

If you have good experience in white water rafting, then you are ready to take on the lower Zambezi River with rapids of grade 5 and 6. The rapids of the Zambezi River are close together and you are sure to topple from your raft more than once. It's so thrilling that you will have to be mentally prepared to head out on this adventure. But never fear, there are rescue boats and safety is seen to first. You can book the adventure through hotels in Livingstone Zambia or through the company directly.

3

Go on a Canoe Safari

The Zambezi River is not only rapid it is also one of the calm rivers where you can enjoy a wonderful canoe ride. You will love it even more if you are a wildlife enthusiast. Yes, you don't need to worry about the rapids on the upper part of the Zambezi river (it has two sides to it). Canoe rides are meant to be calm but this one will be a little more thrilling. Why? You are bound to see hippos and crocs on your way down the water. Your heart will partly be racing because you'll need to paddle faster and googly eyes are staring at you from under the water.

4

Witness the Moonbow

Try to time your trip to coincide with a full-moon day because the Vitoria Falls holds a special surprise come night-time. The day before, the day after and on the full-moon day you will be able to witness the Lunar Rainbow. The light from the moon is reflected off the water droplets in the air around the river. To observe this phenomenon, the best time to visit would be during the high-water season that falls between April and July.

5

Go quad biking

Yet another amazing thing to do is to go quad biking around Livingstone. Enjoying the comforts of hotels by chains like Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas is all well and good. But there is so much out there to see and do. You can quad bike through the bush of Livingstone or through the villages where you can interact with the locals. You can also stop on the way to take pictures of the scenic parts of your route.
