Have you heard a phrase which says, 'the best things in life are free?' Ever believed it? If you haven't, read this out. Every experience listed here is free to enjoy. So, why won't you try each of these experiences when in Wellington? The fun is all yours!

1

Head to the beach

Did you know that Wellington has many beautiful beaches? The Scorching Bay, Balena Bay, and the Oriental Bay are just to name a few. If you are spending your summer vacation at one of the Wellington hotels the likes of Oaks Wellington Hotel, head to the nearest beach with a book in hand, and some snacks maybe. Join the massive crowds enjoying their moments to the fullest.

2

Try out a trail walk

Wellington is blessed with a number of great trail walks. Head to Mount Victoria or else Mount Kaukau for an amazing experience for free. If you want some more adventure, forget the city limits and explore the Otari Wilton Bush. This is the best way to please the adventurer in you.

3

Explore the Wellington Botanic Gardens

Although the Wellington Botanic Gardens can be enjoyed throughout the year, January-February will always be special. Great musical events happen daily (except for Mondays) to entertain the crowds, and they normally get scheduled between 8.00 pm – 9.00 pm. If you also like to participate in one event, make sure you go there at least by 7.00 pm to secure a spot for you.

4

Visit the galleries and museums

Unlike in many other towns, most of the Wellington galleries and Museums are free to the general public (including the tourists). While admiring the artistic skills of the local and international artists, you may also photograph them to keep as memories. However, if you wish, you may grant your generous donations to these places, and they'll use them for further improvements.

5

Head to the Central Wellington Library

If you are a bookworm, you'll love this option for sure. The Central Wellington Library has thousands of books about every aspect, and not just books, they also have educational DVDs and music CDs as well. Go there in the morning and explore what you've been missing for so long.

6

Explore the Parliament

You don't need to know or like politics to visit a parliament. So, why not try out a tour around the Parliament of New Zealand during your tour? Do you know what's so special about this building? It has been structured in the shape of a 'bee-hive' and the architectural style is pretty amazing to explore.

7

Head onto the water

The awesomeness of the Wellington Harbour must be explored during your tour, you can't just miss this out! The water is clean, and you may even swim here without any issue. If kayaking is what you prefer over the other activities, space is all yours to enjoy your moments. Be it rowing, sailing, or paddling, the Wellington Harbour fulfils your desires in style. You will also be able to spot dolphins on your way.
