However, most people won’t realize how dirty their brushes really are, until they start cleaning them regularly.
We’ve already talked about how often shall you wash the brushes in previous article RFQ of Makeup Brushes. More than that, “How to clean” would be the key. You might once search for answers via Google or Quora but still have no clue. No worries, you would find the complete answer here to solve it today.
Clean by water directly?
Forget it! It’s hard to wash it fully clean by water, even applied the shampoo. The right first step to clean is to SOAK.
STEP 1
Prepare a container like a cup or a jar, pour some hot water and make sure it could be over the bristle. Then pour in a tablespoon of baby shampoo and a tablespoon of white vinegar, mix them well. If you have too many brushes to clean, better for two spoons of shampoo.
_Tips: Hot water doesn’t mean boiled water. If your brush is made of animal hair, water temperature shall be around 40℃.
_
STEP 2
Put the dirty brushes in facedown and soak in for 15 to 20 minutes. Remember, it’s better that water doesn’t seep into brush handle.
STEP 3
Take out a brush, simply rinse it with warm water then cold. Pick a cleansing mat, gently work the bristle hair across textured surfaces and get all of makeup that’s dislodged in the brush out.
Tips: You can use comb instead if there’s no cleansing mat.
STEP 4
Gently squeeze out excess water, and place it on the clean dry towel with bristle down as it shown on the picture. Yet, it’s not finished.
Tips: Do not put brushes faceup, the water will run into the ferrule and loosen the glue causing the bristles to fall out.
STEP 5
This is the last important step you dunno. Let your brushes air dry 70% – 80% of the way, then wear the brush guard until completely dry. This helps to reshape the bristle and extend the brush life. So keep the guard when you bought new brushes. It’s very useful!
Tips: If you don’t have brush guard on hand, use condom instead. It’s not a joke, lol. Remeber to cut off the end, and make several holes on surface for better air dry.
See, only 5 steps to well washed! Happy Cleaning, fellas!
