Which promotional products are most likely to be kept?

Most of us will have been to a business launch, event or trade show and gleefully snapped up a goody bag filled with branded goodies and freebies.

But for businesses that invest in creating those branded products, which are the most popular? Of all the pens, USB drives and other giveaways, which are most likely to be used by potential customers and have the biggest long-term marketing impact?

Well, research from the Advertising Specialty Institute in the US looked to find out - here's what they found!

1

Writing instruments

89% of people keep hold of their branded pens and pencils!

2

Drinkware

Everyone loves a free promotional travel mug - 88% hang on to them.

3

T-shirts

80% of us will hang onto a free branded t-shirt - even if it's the back-up one we wear when everything else in the wash!

4

Bags

Free tote bag? Thank you very much! 73% of us will keep a freebie bag.

5

Headware

69% of us will hang on to a branded cap or beanie hat - sunglasses too.

6

Outerwear

67% keep hold of any outerwear they receive.

7

Polo shirt

Less popular than a standard t-shirt, but still 65% will keep a promotional polo shirt.

8

Desk accessories

Maybe they're kept - maybe they're buried under a pile of paperwork. Whichever it is, 64% will hang onto promotional desk accessories.

9

Calendars

Always useful and something we rarely thing to get for ourselves. 62% will keep a free calendar.

10

USB drives

Completing the top 10 is the humble yet ever-popular USB drive! 58% will keep hold of one that's given away at a show or event.
