5 Things to Do When Sydney Is At Its Magical Best – Winter Holidays in Sydney

For people who don't quite like winters, it is usually to do with the cold, the lack of sunshine and the lack of activities. Which is why Sydney is the perfect holiday destination for you! Events in Sydney during the winter are even more excitable than during the summer. Here's what to do.

1

Sea Life Sydney

Visit Sea Life Sydney Aquarium during the winter. Especially if you are travelling with children. Sea Life is home to over 13,000 marine creatures. Alongside its penguin exhibit, Sea Life Sydney Aquarium is also home to a diverse array of marine animals that you can meet up close and personal and also learn more about these creatures. The aquarium works hard towards sea creature conservation as well.

2

Bondi Beach

A quick ride from Oaks Sydney Goldsbrough Suites is Bondi Beach, one of the most famous stretches of beaches in Australia. There is a long 3.7-mile trail which extends from Bondi Beach to Coogee and takes you through some of the most picturesque beach views you would ever come across. Entrance to these beach trails are completely free so if you want to walk even further the trail continues from Coogee to Maroubra. Goes to show that beaches aren't just for the summer.

3

Vivid Sydney

Every year Vivid Sydney is a festival that is held over the winter starting in May until mid-June. It is a celebration of art installations where they are projected onto famous local attractions such as the Sydney Opera House. Artists come from all over the country for a chance to showcase their art as well as to celebrate the advancement of technology in Australia. It is a beautiful marriage of science and culture. If you are staying at a Sydney Darling Harbour hotel, you'll get a frontline seat to all the magic.

4

Historic Luna Park

First opened in 1935, Sydney Harbour's Luna Park is not just an amusement park it is part of the city's history. There are many old-school amusement park adventures that you can enjoy at Luna Park such as its very own Coney Island, Mirror Maze, Joy Rides and the Mystery Mansion. It almost feels like you are stepping back in time to the 1930s. Especially if you visit during wintertime. While you have to pay for the individual rides and adventures the entrance to the park is completely free.

5

Sydney Opera House

Everyone knows the Sydney Opera House. It is an icon that in itself represents all that Sydney is and its whole identity. If you visit Sydney and don't go to the opera house, you are missing out. With tickets priced at $35 for adults and $20 for children, you should definitely catch at least one of the myriads of opera performances that are held every year. Some tours are conducted in various languages and maybe you would be able to witness a rehearsal if you are lucky.
