Seven Incredible Animals You Can See in Zambia – An Amazing Wildlife Experience

The raw African wilderness is something that adventurous travel seekers don't like to miss out on. You find the best collection of wildlife in Zambia in its many National Parks and also along the Zambezi River, Luangwa Valley, and the Victoria Falls.

1

Lions

In Zambia, you may spot the kings of the jungle – lions at the Kafue National Park. If you are a wildlife photographer, you may even be able to click a great picture when they aim for a hunt or even when they lounge in the grassland areas. Large groups of lions can sometimes be spotted (if your timing is good) and you may also observe how their small ones follow their parents quite playfully.

2

Elephants

On the African Continent, you find the African elephants who are considered the largest species of elephants in the world. They can be spotted in Kafue, Lower Zambezi, and several other National Parks of Zambia.

3

Zebras

If you choose to spend your holiday at a Livingstone hotel the likes of Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara, your vacation is not only going to be about luxury and serenity. You also become so much close to the wildlife because you simply overlook the Zambezi River. Zebras will even come to the yard and it's a common sight. Zebras in Zambia normally live in herds and these herds can include 20-100 zebras quite surprisingly.

4

Giraffes

Giraffes- the tallest animals in the world are not an uncommon sight to spot in Zambia. They can be spotted in South Luangwa and at many National Parks of the country. There is a species of giraffes called the 'Thornicroft's giraffe' and this species can be spotted only in Zambia. They differ from the rest due to their unique markings on the skin.

5

Hippos

Hippos (Hippopotamuses) are mostly spending their time along the rivers in Zambia. It's always good to have a guided tour to see these creatures because sometimes their attacks are powerful. If you get a signal by them that they are approaching (they normally snort loudly), move away as soon as possible because you never know how strong they can be when charging.

6

Leopards

Leopards are a similar species to tigers that are smart at hunting. They are particularly known for their solo hunting skills. If you plan to enjoy a night safari, you may surely spot at least a few of the leopards. But make sure you stay alert throughout the safari because these creatures sneak away as soon as they see the vehicle lights.

7

White Rhinos

Although South Africa itself declared that white rhinos were slowly getting extinct mainly due to poaching, Zambia now has them- thanks to the relocation initiatives taken by the Zambia Wildlife Authority back in 2010. Now, in Zambia, you get the rare privilege of seeing a herd of about 10 white rhinos around Victoria Falls. Keep your cameras ready, because these are the largest species of rhinoceros in the world.
