Palmas is the capital of the Tocantins, in Brazil. The town is between Lake and Serra do Carmo, where nature is beautiful and generous. The best and funniest things to do in Palmas have been near to nature.
Gaciosa Beach is located on Lake Palmas and is an excellent place to watch the sunset. The sun sets on the other side of the lake and the reflection colors the waters. Many people used to go to Graciosa to do exercise, ride a bike, meet friends and date.
Serra do Carmo is a beautiful postcard of Palmas. From there you can see the city, the bridge and the lake. There are some trails that you can take to reach the top. On the trails you can watch natives small animals, birds, flowers, rocks and plants.
Near Palmas there are many waterfalls with crystal clear waters. There if you are hot you can bathe in the cold waters and refresh yourself. The nature around is exuberant and a beautiful setting.
Taquaruçu is a small village near Palmas. It is in a beautiful valley, surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. On Sundays locals sell handicrafts and typical food at a fair in the central square. Many artists perform music, dance and circus shows. It is a good place for families and children.
If you like strong emotions you need to take a zipline in Taquaruçu. The zipline is the largest in the northern region, with 1,300 meters long, at an altitude of 380 meters. There you can contemplate nature with a unique view of the mountain landscape.
If you like to wake up early, in the lake of Palmas you can watch a beautiful sunrise. There are some birds that sing happily with the arrival of another day.
Would you like to camp? Sucupira Ranch is a great place for that. It's near Palmas, there is space to set up tents, to barbecue and bathe in the lake. It isn't expensive and you can make new friends.
