Listly by Kyle Hunt
Utah's weather is being even more bipolar than usual, and your 1993 Ford Sable simply isn't the girl she used to be. One thing we can all be grateful for however, is that at least no one is trying to chew your face off (except perhaps metaphorically). But just how long will this quiet, none-zombie-infested society which we Utahns take for granted last? Frankly, I have no idea, but here are a few tips for preparing for this (and possibly other) disasters.
Ok, so most residents of Utah are already familiar with the idea of Food Storage. Whether for religious beliefs, or just plain old caution, it seems pretty smart to keep on hand a bunch of nonperishable food and water for yourself and your family. Well, keep it up, and if you haven't started yet, begin building your horde. Should the zombie apocalypse come knocking on your door next week, you'll be grateful to not have to run to the local Wal-Mart to pick up some Disney's' Cars fruity gummies when your stomach starts to call. I mean, those lines are already ridiculous, but add in zombies trying to eat you at the same time and you're just asking for trouble. You're much better getting your food storage now than having to scavenge for pre-used tidbits once Utah society collapses.
Some things never change, and the truth is, whether it is World War III or an angry mob of zombies, Guns are essential to protect yourself. Now, I'm not saying that we all have to become Utah gun nuts and install mounted machineguns on our jeeps (not at the moment), but it would be wise to safely, and responsibly learn the proper handling of firearms and their storage. Nothing is a better biting deterrent for a zombie than a face full of buckshot from a semi-automatic shotgun. In addition to the firearms, it might be wise to own a healthy supply of ammunition which you can get out for emergencies. Recycling used bullet shells is great for nature, but not very practical when you're running for your life. I recommend storing your weapons in a quality Utah-made gun safe to protect you and your family while waiting for the zombies appear.
Even if the streets are roaming with the undead, you're not going to want to stay cooped up inside forever. As such, a quality car or vehicle will be essential to getting you safely to your destination. And hey, you can even drive it around before the zombies destroy the world, and do just fine. Bigger might not always be better, but frankly you can't go wrong with a well-built Ford Car or Truck. New or used, pick one up from a Utah dealership and you'll never have to worry about getting stuck in unfortunate situations. These cars are built to last, and reliability is exactly what you'll need when a corpse is trying to climb over your front windshield. You'll be able to cruise the streets of post apocalyptic Utah knowing you and your family are safe, and looking good while doing so.
Making sure you're properly prepared will make your life much easier in the long run, and you and your family will thank you for it. Whether it is undead bodies trying to bite your toes, or just Mother Nature throwing around a natural disaster, better safe than sorry is always a wise decision. These three items will keep your options open for safety and survivability in the future, so you will be ready for whatever comes your way.
