Must try Water Sports When in Pasikudah – the best way to spend your days

Pasikudha holds some of the most beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka and is home to some of the clearest waters on the island too. The coast here offers so many opportunities for various water sports. Here are a few water sports that you ought to try when visiting this part of the island.

1

Diving

One of the most amazing dive sites in the country includes HMS Hermes which offers the avid divers a pleasant challenge. The dive site is closer to the shore, so exploring won't be a hassle. Dive in and witness the wonder of the marine life here in Sri Lanka. Diving at the spot is seasonal and depends on the weather. Visit from May to August for optimum visibility and good diving conditions.

2

Snorkelling

This is an activity that is easily possible as a few resorts like Uga Bay are situated just near some of the best snorkelling sites in the area. You could just wade through the shallow waters and spot various kinds of fish swimming going about their way. If you don't know how to snorkel, the hotels offer the option of a snorkelling lesson, so you'll be snorkelling in no time at all!

3

Sailing

This is one of the most loved water activities to try when in Pasikudah. The waters are a beautiful blue and many hotels take advantage of their location close to such waters to offer guests a peaceful sailing experience. Try to sail by sunset if possible, for some of the most stunning views.

4

Jetski

When in Sri Lanka, water sports are in the plenty to indulge in. Jet skiing is one sport that can be enjoyed throughout the country's beaches. It is no different in Pasikudah! Rent out a few jet skis and whizz past on the waters leaving a white trail of foam. This activity is perfect for those who are travelling with friends and looking for a few thrills.

5

Banana boat rides

If you are travelling with family or are afraid of an adrenaline rush, a banana boat ride is the best option. You will be able to enjoy it all with your family and the best thing of all is that no one needs to know how to swim to engage in this activity. You will be provided with safety gear like life jackets and all you have to do is hop on board the banana boat. Try to stay on the boat as you bump on the waves while the speed boat continues to pull the banana boat along at manageable speeds.

6

Windsurf

Let the strong breeze propel you across the waters while you balance on your board and feel the adrenaline rush right through your body. Since the shoreline is quite shallow you will be able to windsurf without any issues.

7

Kayaking

Once again because the water at the shoreline is shallow, you will be able to kayak over the calm waters.
