The main objective is to assess the teaching and research capabilities of the candidates. The test aims at assessing the teaching and research aptitude. Candidates are expected to possess and exhibit cognitive abilities, which include comprehension, analysis, evaluation, understanding the structure of arguments, deductive and inductive reasoning.
The candidates are also expected to have a general awareness of teaching and learning processes in the higher education system. Further, they should be aware of the interaction between people, environment, natural resources and their impact on the quality of life.
Here is the detailed UGC NET 2020 Paper 1 Syllabus:
I. Teaching Aptitude
Teaching : Nature, objectives, characteristics and basic requirements;
Learner’s characteristics;
Factors affecting teaching;
Methods of teaching;
Teaching aids;
Evaluation systems.
II. Research Aptitude
Research: Meaning, characteristics and types;
Steps of research
Methods of research;
Research Ethics;
Paper, article, workshop, seminar, conference and symposium
Thesis writing: its characteristics and format.
III. Reading Comprehension
A passage to be set with questions to be answered.
IV. Communication
Communication Nature, characteristics, types, barriers and effective classroom communication.
V. Reasoning (Including Mathematical)
Number series; letter series; codes;
Relationships; classification.
VI. Logical Reasoning
Understanding the structure of arguments;
Evaluating and distinguishing deductive and inductive reasoning;
Verbal analogies: Word analogy — Applied analogy;
Verbal classification;
Reasoning Logical Diagrams: Simple diagrammatic relationship, multi-diagrammatic relationship;
Venn diagram; Analytical Reasoning.
VII. Data Interpretation
Sources, acquisition and interpretation of data;
Quantitative and qualitative data;
Graphical representation and mapping of data.
VIII. Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
ICT : meaning, advantages, disadvantages and uses;
General abbreviations and terminology;
Basics of internet and e-mailing.
IX. People and Environment
People and environment interaction;
Sources of pollution;
Pollutants and their impact on human life, exploitation of natural and energy resources;
Natural hazards and mitigation
X. Higher Education System: Governance, Polity and Administration
Structure of the institutions for higher learning and research in India: formal and distance education professional/technical and general education; value education: governance, polity, and administration; concept, institutions and their interactions.

Exam Date: UGC NET 2020 Exam is conducted on 24th September to 5th November 2020 for June Session.
Exam Mode: The entrance test will be organised in Online CBT mode.
Number of Papers: There will be two papers for the exam – Paper I and Paper II.
Number of Questions: Total of 150 questions will be there in the exam paper. 50 questions in Paper I and 100 questions in Paper II.
Type of Questions: The question paper will contain multiple choice type questions.
Language Medium: The question paper will be available in the medium language of English and Hindi.
Time Duration: Paper I will be of 1 hour duration while Paper II will be of 2 hours.
Total Marks: Paper 1 will be of 100 marks and Paper II will be of 200 marks.
Marking Scheme: For every correct answer, 2 marks will be given. There will be no provision of negative marking for incorrect answer.

UGC NET Syllabus 2021
The University Grants Commission has updated the syllabus for the UGC NET exam and the same has been circulated through a Public Notice uploaded on the official NTA NET website. The notice states,
“The University Grants Commission has updated the syllabus of all NET subjects (including Paper-I on General Awareness). The updated syllabus of UGC-NET (applicable for upcoming exams from June 2019 onwards) is available on UGC-NET website - www.ugcnetonline.in.”

The Paper I or General Paper is common for all the candidates. Candidates are first required to appear in Paper I and then in Paper II which is their subject paper. UGC NET eligibility certificate 2020 has been released by National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates can download the NTA UGC NET eligibility certificate from the official website of the exam. The NTA UGC NET JRF award letter 2020 will be released soon.
UGC NET 2020 result was released by National Testing Agency on December 1. The result was released in the form of a scorecard on the official website of the exam. Candidates can check their result and download UGC NET scorecard by logging into their registered accounts using the application number and date of birth/password.

UGC NET Exam: The National Testing Agency UGC NET may give an update about the May 2021 exam soon. According to media reports, the dates of the examination and the release of the admit card can be announced.
Lots of candidates are waiting for the UGC NET exam postponed due to the Corona epidemic. The UGC NET exam for December 2020 cycle was to be conducted from May 2 to May 17 by the National Testing Agency. But it had to be postponed due to the epidemic. How to Download UGC NET Answer Key
The answer key can be downloaded by the candidates by following the below steps:
All candidates who are not satisfied with the UGC NET answer key can challenge it in the prescribed format on the official website of the exam. However, candidates have to pay Rs 1,000 per question in online mode via debit card/credit card/e-challan. In case, the challenge of any candidate is accepted, the fee is refunded. In all other cases, the fee once paid is not refunded.
