7 Tips for a Better Beach Holiday with Your Kids – It Doesn’t Have to Be a Nightmare!

The beach is not the perfect holiday that you would dream of where you can spend hours sunbathing and dipping in the warm water of the sea. If you have kids, it might be quite a dangerous endeavour, taking you kids out. But it doesn't have to be. Here are our best tips for a better holiday.

1

Go Early – Or Late

Either go early or go late when you are heading out to the beach with your children. Early doesn't mean at the crack of dawn. Just make sure you are there when there is less of a crowd, or better still use sites like Sandy Beach Trips to find beaches that are not as famous as the better-known ones. This way you don't have to worry about taking small children who would not always be interested in going to the beach. If you can go late, but this would have to be just after sunset and that might be dangerous especially if you don't know the area that you are in.

2

Master the Art of Sunscreen

Master the art of applying sunscreen especially on your little ones. Make sure you get all the parts of their body that are exposed to sunlight. Slather it on thickly and make sure that you replenish the cover after they have been in the water. Choose a cream that is children-friendly and will offer them adequate protection against the sun.

3

Build Your Own Oasis

You can have a fun day at the beach by building your children a "shade fortress." You can bring a big umbrella with you and build sand walls, maybe turning it into a castle so your kids could play royalty and fight with swords while they are playing.

4

Pack an Umbrella

Always make sure you pack a large umbrella that you can hold over your kids while they are playing if there are no shaded areas on the beach of your choice.

5

Skip the Chairs

If you are also not taking older people with you, ditch the chairs and opt to sit on the ground instead. You will get sand everywhere but your kids will be easier to take care of and control if you are also down at their level.

6

Discover the Turkish Towel

Turkish towels are lightweight and won't take a whole amount of packing space in your beach bags. They will be soft enough to have your kids sit on them and they will be perfect for the adults if they want to take a nap or work on their tan. These flat towels are often referred to as fouta or peshtemal towels.

7

Bring Your Cooler

Invest in a small cooler if you can because you can keep your kids snacks from getting soggy and your water bottles will remain sufficiently cool during the day. It doesn't have to be a very large one but it also shouldn't be too small. Think about what you would pack for a beach day and work accordingly.
