The Kaani Tree

One of the most talked-about natural landmarks in the Maldives, Kaani Tree has been known even in the 16th century. If you visit the Shaviyani atoll in Maroshi, you’ll be able to explore this legendary tree and click a photo standing in front of it.

Hanifary Bay

Divers love the Maldives for the underwater explorations it offers, and Hanifary Bay is one of the most popular locations in the country with great diving moments. Not just the whale sharks, you can observe very large gatherings of manta rays here in Hanifary Beach.

Male – the city

One of the most popular places to visit in Maldives- Male, the capital city is densely built but with many attractions to explore. Male has been the center of administration since the ancient times, and many government residents have built their official residences here. Muliaage is considered the former official residence of the Maldivian president and you’ll love everything about its architecture and the interior designs.

Male Hukuru Miskiy

This is known to the tourists as the Male Friday Mosque. Since the Maldives is a Muslim country, you will find many interesting mosques here, and this mosque is known as one of the most beautiful and the oldest out of them all. This has been built from coral stone and has several amazing carvings all around. You also come across many unique tombstones in the graveyard that surrounds the mosque.

Aasaari Miskiiy

Located in Nilandhoo (Faafu atoll), Aasaari Miskiiy is the second most ancient mosque in the country. Once you visit this mosque, you will fall in love with the amazing interior and the crafts some of which are done from stone blocks.

Gamu Haiyetheli

Yes, there isn’t much to see today at Gamu Haiyetheli, but it has been a very ancient Buddhist temple in the Maldives. Although, it’s just about the ruins today, it’s still a significant landmark worth visiting.

Dhevvadhoo Buddhist Temples

Before the establishment of Islam in the Maldives, this island (Dhevvadhoo) has been very important in the country. There are several Buddhist stupas (some of them are just ruins today) and many mounds that are yet to be explored.
