Located just a stone's throw away from the castle in uphill Lincoln, the Stokes Cafe, is housed within what was once the cookhouse of the former 'Lincoln Lunatic Asylum'.
It is a beautiful 60-seater restaurant that has been refurbished in the most eco-friendly and beautiful way. The chairs have been upholstered using old coffee sacks, and there is a life-size killer whale (YES LIFE-SIZE) made from old car bumpers and coffee machine parts and suspended from the rafters.
There is also a fantastic viewing area where you can see right into the roastery. They have a wide range of delicious dishes, treats and of course the finest coffee and tea.
As I have a dairy intolerance they have always been incredibly responsive and helpful with excellent knowledge of their menu. The staff are always accommodating and happy to help.
