A city full of cultural heritage, Kandy is best to be explored in July-August, particularly because of the Dalada procession (Esala Maha Perahara) that starts its journey from the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy. Kandy was once home to several kings, and also the former capital city of the country. While the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth Relic) is the main attraction in the city, Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Udawatte Sanctuary and Bahirawa Kanda Temple are the other important attractions worth a visit.

2

Galle

Thanks to the Southern Expressway, traveling to Galle is today an easy job, without spending hours on the normal road. Galle is a coastal city located on the southern coast of Sri Lanka that's renowned for having the Galle Dutch Fort. This colonial city is blessed with some great attractions such as the Galle Lighthouse, the Marine Museum, and many tourist hotels as well.

The commercial capital of Sri Lanka- Colombo is a modern city in the country that's sure to be busy no matter when you go there. Yes, there are all the commercial buildings, supermarkets, world-class hotels, and restaurants in Colombo, but the city also has many worth-visiting attractions such as the Gangaramaya Temple (for spiritual bliss) and the Galle Face (for a quick coastal escape).

4

Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi (a sacred Bo tree) is considered one of the most sacred trees in the world, and in addition to this, Anuradhapura has some other major attractions such as Ruwanweli Seya, Thuparamaya and Kuttam Pokuna (a royal pond).

Polonnaruwa

Once you choose a trusted cab service the likes of Malkey, traveling to Polonnaruwa from Anuradhapura on the same trip is easy since it's also one of the most ancient cities in Sri Lanka. Ruins of ancient palaces, royal halls, and gardens can be still seen in this city, and to provide accommodation options for tourists from around the world, the city now has modern hotels and resorts, making it one of the best tourist destinations in Sri Lanka.

6

Ella

Although this small hill-country town was not so popular among tourists before, now it attracts tourists from everywhere simply because of its scenic beauty. The Nine Arch Bridge (a railway bridge that's entirely created with bricks), Ella Rock, and Little Adam's Peak are some of the main attractions in this city, and what's more special about here is the unbelievable scenic beauty and the charming weather it has. The best way to travel to Ella is by train, because then only you'll be able to be exposed to the unparalleled natural landscapes of the country.
