Top Things to Know Before You Go To Macau – A Destination with Much to Offer

In need of a holiday where you can enjoy gaming at casinos, luxurious comforts and sightseeing? Then make plans to visit Macau where you can experience all those and much more! Here are some things to keep in mind to help you prepare for your getaway.

1

Plenty of Casinos

Featuring all the glitz and glamour associated with Las Vegas, Macau offers all the high-stakes or casual gaming you desire. It is home to over 40 casinos including some from Vegas providing plenty of chances for you to beat the odds and win big! The casinos are generally open 24/7 throughout the year and apart from slot machines, they feature blackjack, Caribbean stud, baccarat, roulette, poker, craps and more. Keep in mind, entry to casinos is for those 21 years or above.

2

Luxury Hotels Abound

As you would expect in a destination with lots of dazzling casinos, there are plenty of luxurious accommodation options for those in search of some pampering at Macau hotels. 5 star properties not only feature plush rooms and suites but a wealth of dining options and facilities too. Be it the largest Skytop Wave Pool in the world at Hotel Okura Macau to properties with cinemas, shopping arcades, and beauty salons, there is much to choose from.

3

Many Historical Attractions

One of the best things to do in Macau is to explore some of its historical attractions which offer insights into a rich local heritage. Said to have been in place even before the city was created, the A-Ma Temple with its fascinating architecture, design and pavilions dedicated to different deities is a must-visit. Other highlights include the 16th century St. Lawrence's Church, 17th century Ruins of St. Paul's and 18th century Kuan Tai Temple.

4

Thrilling Activities On Offer

Those in search of adrenaline-pumping thrills have much to look forward to as well. One of the destination's key attractions, Macau Tower not only offers stunning views from its observation deck but the chance to try bungy jumping 233 metres off the ground! This site has a special Adventure Deck which features other exhilarating activities too; these include the Skyjump and the Tower Climb which takes you right to the top of the 338-metre tall tower.

5

Two Accepted Currencies

When it comes to local currency, Macau has its own which is called the Macau Pataca (MOP). However, that is not the only currency that is accepted here and you can, in fact, make use of Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) as well. The convenient thing is that these two currencies have a one-to-one exchange rate so they can be both easily used and if you are travelling from Hong Kong, you don't have to convert your HKD.

6

Ideal For Day Trips

Macau makes an ideal base from which to enjoy day trips to nearby destinations, especially Hong Kong which is only a one-hour ferry ride away. It is perfect for an excursion to visit attractions like The Peak or spend the day at theme parks such as Hong Kong Disneyland, before returning for some night time gaming at a casino. Do keep in mind to catch the early ferry to Hong Kong to get the most from your excursion.
