February 8, 2011 ยท 12:14 am This evening, I had the opportunity to visit with a band director from another high school. We've exchanged ideas about the use of iPads before. This past fall, the band director successfully wrote a grant to get six iPads for his band program.
I use the ipad/iphone in class as a supplemental educational tool and thought it would be interesting to share ideas of how teachers are utilizing the ipad/apps. "Apps help personalize instruction, address a variety of learning styles, and create highly interactive classrooms. That not only makes for a more engaging learning environment, it also results in performance improvements across the board."
This evening, forScore 5.0 went live on the App Store. forScore is one of the two PDF music readers that I suggest for music teachers, along with unrealBook. For those of you who are new to this blog, this is for two reasons.
What happens when you take a classroom of students, add 24 iPads as well as sound recording gear and then throw in a live band? A pretty catchy song that gives you hope for the future of music in the digital age.
I was lucky enough the other day to sit in on a local network meeting of Creative and Performing Arts teachers in one of our regions. As always I was impressed by the way they freely shared the lessons they had learnt in their classrooms using iPads.
