Top 5 Nature Attractions in Brisbane – Greenery Amidst the City

Brisbane might be one of the most famous urban cities of our time, but that's not to say that the region has lost touch with its natural side. Here in Brisbane, there's plenty of natural attractions for you to visit and experience – here're 5 of the very best.

1

Brisbane Forest Park

sometimes even referred to as a mini nature reserve – is one of the very best attractions you can visit here in Brisbane. Found just alongside the city's suburbs, the forest park is a great place to catch a glimpse of some of Australia's rare and unique fauna – the marsupials and the monotremes. Kangaroos are known to roam around here alongside their smaller cousins the wallabies. Wombats can be seen burrowing into the undergrowth while sugar flying possums tend to scurry around the treetops. If you head on over to a pond, you might even see the bizarre duck-billed platypus swimming around. It might surprise you to know that all this wildlife can be found just under an hour from most hotel apartments Brisbane has to offer – for example, the Oaks Brisbane Lexicon Suites is just over 50 minutes away from the park.

2

The Botanical Gardens

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre and just relax in the soothing aura of nature, the Botanical Gardens of Brisbane is where you need to go. Right as you walk in, you'll be treated to a vibrant display of colour. The collection of flowering plants found at the gardens is truly impressive – you'll find everything from rare rose varieties to stunning orchids. Simply taking in all the scenery around you can be a truly blissful experience here at the gardens.

3

Koala's Park

Koalas are one of Australia's most iconic animals and the Koala's Park in Brisbane is the oldest and largest reserve for these tree-dwelling marsupials. The environment is calm and placid – just how koalas like it. You can stroll around for hours taking the quiet bliss of the reserve. The location is home to a number of other marsupials as well, most notably kangaroos and wallabies.

4

Park of the South Coast

The Park of the South Coast is connected to the city centre via a collection of bridges. The park itself is covered in patches of rainforest and open grasslands. If you keep exploring, you'll even find some quaint rock pools full of native fish varieties. Keep going down the trail and you'll eventually end up on a secluded beach that's perfect for a few moments of peace and quiet.

5

Lamington National Park

If you want to go out of town for a bit and visit a truly spectacular nature attraction, consider a trip to Lamington National Park, found around 110 kilometres away from Brisbane's city centre. The park itself is covered in rainforests and some of the trees found here are well over a hundred years old. What's more, the park is home to an amazing variety of avifauna – so bring your binoculars with you.
