Best places to go shopping in Mongkok – Get the Coolest Merchandise!

Some of the best markets in the world can be found in Hong Kong. Whether you are looking to eat some delicious and time-honoured food, or some killer deals in antiques or clothes or simply look for some great entertainment that includes wandering through the colourful streets, here's your list.

1

Flowers Market

Flower Market Street was once a wholesale flower market as far back as the 1970s. It wasn't until the 90s that the clientele began to include retail consumers and today it caters to both. Even if you are not looking to buy a bunch of blooms or a potted plant friend, the Flowers Market Street is a great place to just walk around and enjoy the scents and colours. It is located on Flower Market Road, Prince Edward right beside Birds Market so you can explore them both if you are looking for a great walking date location.

2

Birds Garden

Yuen Po Birds Market is also known as Birds Garden. The art of keeping a songbird collection in a house is an ancient tradition that was once popular among the Chinese but has become a dying practice in the modern age. The market went through relocation in the early 1990s due to renovation but has been one of the oldest standing markets in Hong Kong. You wouldn't be interested in purchasing songbirds, but the market is worth a visit especially to see the ancient shop fronts. And it is situated at the end of Flowers Market Street.

3

Ladies Market

The first sanctioned hawker market by the Hong Kong government, Ladies Market is one of the most popular markets in Hong Kong. It is so popular that you'd often find it to be part of the agenda hotels in Mongkok Hong Kong recommend on their city tours. The Ladies Market was first established in 1975 and has over 100 stores which sell all kinds of goods. It is a great place to go to if you are looking to keep abreast of the latest trends in the fashion circuit. The market will be quite current with its trends. If you are staying at a hotel the likes of Dorsett Mongkok, you can easily find Ladies Market on Tung Choi Street.

4

Argyle Centre

Another market to visit if you are based in Mongkok is the Argyle Centre. Situated in the One Mongkok Road Commercial Centre, this is where anyone with an interest in cosmetics or colourful clothing, literally anything under the sun you need to beautify yourself with, would go to. All of the shops sell the same products so make sure that you check in different stores and do a little price comparison before you buy anything you like.

5

T.O.P

This is the latest addition to this list. A brand-new mall which only opened in 2018, T.O.P is an extension of the Argyle Centre and is where you'd go to look for the flagship stores of high street brands and fancy boutiques. One of the main attractions of this mall, however, is the glass bridge that connects it to the Argyle Centre. Be sure to take some photos on it.
