Thailand's Top Beach Destinations – The Shorelines in Paradise

When it comes to beaches in South East Asia, few places can match up to Thailand. The country is blessed with pristine stretches of shoreline that make for some fantastic beach destinations. So, if you're ever in the region, here're the top beaches you should seek out.

1

Patong Beach

Patong Beach is found in one of the most famous and travelled-to destinations in Thailand, the famed Phuket Island. As such, this strip of coastline does not disappoint, often being considered to be the most beautiful and pristine beach that you'll find in the entire country. Patong Beach is well known for its wide coastline and consistently warm water. This makes it perfect for a variety of water activities like swimming, snorkelling, and surfing. What's more, there's a thriving nightlife scene that's associated with the beach, so you might want to check that out as evening falls.

2

Railay Beach

The region of Krabi has some of the best beaches you'll find in Thailand. This is evidenced by all the fantastic Ao Nang beach hotels and resorts you'll run into, like the Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort for example. Now, while the number of choices available to you is numerous, if you only have time to make one stop, be sure to visit Railay Beach. You will need to charter a boat in order to reach this destination, but the extra hassle is well worth it. The deep waters off the beach are perfect for a spot of diving and you can even try your hand at rock climbing on the surrounding cliffs.

3

Long Beach

True to its name, Long Beach – found on the island of Koh Lanta – is quite long! Considered to be the widest beaches you'll find in Thailand; you'll be treated to near-panoramic views of the distant horizon while you're here. If you're someone who enjoys a lively atmosphere, Long Beach is the place to be – it is lined with seafood restaurants and charming bars.

4

Hua Hin Beach

If you're planning to spend some time in the capital city of Bangkok, Hua Hin Beach is the closest bit of pristine shoreline you can visit. This, along with the flat and wide nature of the beach has made it an extremely popular tourist attraction. As such, you should be prepared to deal with crowds at Hua Hin Beach.

5

Kata Beach

Kata Beach is another great location you can visit if you're vacationing in Phuket. Compared to the more popular Patong Beach, Kata Beach is relatively unknown and underrated. This means it's a great choice if you prefer a bit of quiet seclusion. Kata Beach also has all the quintessential tropical beach features – white sands, shady palms, and warm waters. So, don't miss out if you're in the area.

6

Lamai Beach

Fringed by a cluster of palm trees on one side and turquoise blue waters on the other, Lamai Beach is one of the most scenic strips of coastline you can visit in Thailand. The beach does tend to get quite busy – especially as the day winds down. At the same time, it gives the location a great atmosphere – it's perfect for a bit of merriment and dance!
