Must-do activities in Kandy – Explore a divine destination

A World Heritage Site as declared by UNESCO, a divine destination full of cultural values and a paradise blessed with scenic beauty – the city of Kandy in Sri Lanka is among the must-visit places by any traveller. There are quite a lot of things to do here, and here are just a few of them.

1

Visit the Temple of Sacred Tooth Relic

One of the most sacred Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka- the Temple of Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) is a popular attraction not only among the Buddhist community. Even the non-Buddhists come to this temple to witness its royal beauty, and they often take blessings for their future. This is also one of the most sacred places in the whole world because the sacred Relic of Tooth is placed here.

2

Walk around the Kandy Lake

Kandy Lake was built in 1807 and it's indeed one of the places that makes Kandy even more scenic. Try out an evening or morning walk around the Kandy Lake while enjoying its beauty. This is one of the most romantic and peaceful experiences that you can try out when you are in Kandy and do not miss this out!

3

Enjoy unbelievable hospitality at a Kandyan hotel

Yes, it is an ancient city full of cultural highlights, but that doesn't mean that everything here is traditional and cultural. Kandy is one of the areas in Sri Lanka that offers a wide variety of hotels, and almost all these are star-rated. Hotels such as Hunas Falls in Kandy provide great hotel deals in Sri Lanka and you may find the best comforts that you may be looking for with some value-added surprises too. The food offered by these hotels are just superb and do not miss their spa treatments too!

4

Admire the largest garden Sri Lanka has

The Peradeniya Botanical Gardens (located very close to the Kandy City) is the largest garden in the country and it attracts more than 1.5 million visitors every year. So, why should you miss the amazing opportunity? You will quickly fall in love with how they have designed the garden with bamboo forests, plant structures, orchid collections, and ponds. And all of these are indeed picturesque!

5

Roam the streets as if you know them all

Yes, the city of Kandy has all these great attractions, but still- it's walkable! Tuk-tuks are available for transport (most of them are not metered) but, walking all the way while chatting is what many of the people do. Head to the Kandy City Centre (KCC) while you take your walks to do some shopping with your friends. KCC has many shops to entertain you, and if you feel a little hungry after walking, there are also great dining options for you to try out. If you are with your family or friends, roam the Kandy streets until you find some interesting places, and this is going to be fun.
