Desaru Attractions You Probably Don't Know About – A Quick Travel Guide for the Discerning

Desaru is located on the Eastern tip of Malaysia, relatively close to Singapore. It is extremely dependant on weather conditions and seasons so if you are going you should avoid the months of November to February when the monsoon is rather heavy. Here's what you can do in Desaru.

Coast Adventure Park

One of the biggest water parks in Malaysia, Desaru Coast Adventure Water Park has 5 splash zones which are namely Kids Ahoy, Shipwreck Reef, Penawar Falls, Tidal Wave and Penawar River. The park is so large it can house up to 12,000 visitors in a single day. The park is situated in close quarters to a local fishing village. It is also home to the largest wave pool said to be in action in the whole of Southeast Asia. The Adventure Water Park is open from 10 am to 6 pm every day.

Fruit Farm

One of the more unique Desaru attractions is the Fruit Farm. Located within Johar, Desaru Fruit Farm is 100 acres covered with over 120 different species of tropical fruit. You will be able to find both seasonal and non-seasonal fruits on this farm. The farm is open to visitors who can walk among the fruit trees admiring the colour and the myriad of smells. You can also try out the fruit and take some packed with you when you leave. There's also a mini petting zoo of goats, ducks, monkeys, rabbits and tortoises as well as an ornamental koi pond if you'd like to make a day trip of it. The Fruit Farm is open from 8.30 am to 6 pm every day.

Desaru Beach

If you are staying at Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, you will be encouraged to visit Desaru Beach. It could be the main reason you would even consider visiting Desaru in the first place. It is considered the best beach in Johor with white sand and turquoise clear waters. You can take part in many activities on the beach such as scuba diving, snorkelling or surfing. or you could simply lounge around working on your tan. It is a clean and unspoiled beach despite getting quite a lot of tourists during the seasons.

Tanjung Balau Fishermen Museum

The Tanjung Balau Fishermen Museum has four galleries dedicated to the preservation of the unique lifestyle of the older Malaysian fishermen. There is a safe water gallery and a geographic gallery as well as wreck and exhibition gallery. Spending the day here will give you a quick crash course on what life was like for fishermen in Malaysia in the olden days.

Dash Outdoors Desaru

If you are a water sport enthusiast, then you should consider visiting Dash Outdoors Desaru where you can take part in all kinds of water sports like water-biking, jet skiing as well as being tossed around on an inflatable banana boat. It is located in Bandar Penawar and is open from 9 am to 7 pm every day. There's plenty of child-friendly activities too.
