Few things bring people together as music does – there's just something about getting in the groove to the same rhythm as everyone else. It is perhaps no surprise then that there are thousands of music festivals the world over – here're some of the largest.

Electric Daisy Carnival

Las Vegas is notorious for being a neon paradise where riches can be gained from thin air – renowned for being one of the premier party destinations in the world. It is unsurprising then that Vegas is home to the largest electronic dance festival found outside of Europe. The festival's origin can be traced to the underground scene in 2014 and first gained notoriety as part of a documentary that was showcased at the Sundance Film Festival. Since its rise to fame, the Electric Daisy Carnival has been graced by the presence of DJs like Armin van Buuren and Dimitri Vegas.

Sziget

Sziget is one of the best outdoor music festivals held in the world. If you prefer to rock out to your favourite music in the comforts of a leisurely island, make sure to add this event to your bucket list. Held in Budapest, this festival is considered to be one of the biggest celebrations of music held in Europe – this is no small feat if you think about it. Held annually in Augusts, Sziget boasts attendance figures that close in on 500,000! It is no surprise then that it has seen performances from world-renowned artists like Rihanna, Muse, and Sia.

Coachella

Coachella is undoubtedly the most famous music festival in the world, and with regular attendance figures of 590,000, it's one of the largest as well. You're sure to hear about the highlights of Coachella on any reputable Events and Festivals blog online. Held in the sunshine state of California every year, the festival sees a mix of alternative rock and indie tunes being played by some of the biggest artists around the world. Regular performers include pop stars like Lady Gaga, rock icons like Radiohead, and hip-hop artists like Kendrick Lamar.

Rock in Rio

The city of Rio is no stranger to grand-scale festivals and Rock in Rio is not just the largest music event in the city, but in the whole of South America as well! Held every alternating year and with attendance figures that exceed 700,000, this isn't just a festival – it's a spectacle. The show is headlined by a who's who of international artists including Rihanna, Bon Jovi, and Justine Timberlake.

Summerfest

Summerfest is the biggest festival of the summer and is affectionately referred to as the "People's Party". This the largest music festival held in the USA but also one of the cheapest to attend as well. All in all, an all-access ticket for each day will only cost you around 20 dollars! The festival itself lasts for around 11 days and showcases some of the most celebrated artists around the world. Regular performers include legends like Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan as well as renowned groups like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
