The great wall of China

Recognised as one of the new seven wonders of the world, The great wall of china is one of the most protected cultural relics of China. It is also a world heritage site and visiting here will indeed be a memorable experience. It is believed that building of this structure took approximately 1600 years and was over 21 000 kilometres long when the constructing was concluded. Over 800 000 people were involved in building this massive structure and the workforce included soldiers, peasants convicts and slaves.

Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum

Being a site renowned the world over as the home of the terracotta warriors, this is the tomb of Emperor Qinshihuang. The site was discovered in the year 1974 by a group of farmers who were trying to prepare the land for agriculture. The discovery made the area a world heritage site. The mausoleum today houses hundreds of life-sized models of soldiers made from clay. What makes them unique is each of them have distinctive facial features and although they are clad in the same armour they are unique in their own way.

Although it is not forbidden for the public to visit here anymore, this is the city where 24 of the emperors of china lived one after the other along with their families. As a matter of fact, this was the royal palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasty for over 560 years. Today this majestic palace and its premises have been made as a world heritage site and it houses a museum that has numerous relicts and artefacts that represent the country's heritage and culture
