An Essential Packing List for Thailand – Here are The Top Tips!

If you are planning to visit Thailand once pandemic restrictions have been lifted you should start planning what you will be packing for this trip already as it will enable you to save time and be prepared beforehand, especially with things you need to take with you. Here are some tips.

1

Things to Know Before You Begin

Before you start packing or even planning, you should be aware of the following.
Vaccinations
Check with the local authority websites what sort of vaccinations you need to have had before travelling to Thailand. The usual vaccinations will have to have been taken 8 weeks before your departure to Thailand. Also, consider the corona virus and taking a test for that before you go.

Travel Insurance
Ensure that you know the specifics of your travel insurance and what it covers before you go. There is a World Nomads Backpacker travel insurance that is described in detail on Lonely Planet that you can consider as an investment.
Flight Details
Make a list of all your flight details so you know when your flight will be and can take your COVID19 tests in time. You can also check the flight availability and bookings. Make sure that your passport, visa and other details are up to date. You can also call ahead to your hotel in Bangkok Sukhumvit and have them arrange pickup at the airport.
Vaping
Something to be aware of, vaping is illegal in Thailand and if you are caught you will be arrested by the Thai police and fined. There is also a 10 years max prison sentence so be careful.

Things You Don't Need to Bring

The following things you need not bring to Thailand as you can purchase them in Bangkok if the need arises. It will also help you save space in your luggage.
Toiletries
Toiletries of high quality will be available in your hotel room at resorts the likes of Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel and if you require anything else you could ask the front desk or housekeeping and they will provide it for you. If you'd like to purchase them for yourself, every convenient store has plenty.
T-Shirts
There's no place like Bangkok to buy cheap and creative tee shirts. All you have to do is head into the markets and test out your bargaining prowess. Even if you don't like bargaining, tee shirts are only about 100 baht a piece.

Things You Should Be Bringing

Fleece
You are probably wondering why you would need warm clothes in a tropical country, you'd be surprised how cold the air conditioning is in certain indoor locations like shopping malls, buses and cinemas. A lightweight fleece jacket will aid you in these times.
Water Carrier
Bring your own water bottle so you don't have to keep purchasing plastic ones. And get the hotel to fill it for you before you go out each day.
Sunscreen and Mosquito Repellent
While both of these are available in Thailand make sure you bring from home something you've tried and tested and that works for you. Apply them both religiously before you go out in the morning and again in the evening.
