Best 5 Hidden Gems of Koh Samui – You Got to Be There to See it!

The island of Koh Samui is very popular among travellers to Thailand looking for sun, the sea and endless days lounging on white sandy beaches or diving beneath the clear blue oceans. Koh Samui is an island of many hidden gems and here are five you must check out.

1

Overlap Stone

The Overlap Stone is a natural phenomenon and a wonder which you will have to trudge through the jungles of Ko Samui to find. It is a massive stone that is balanced almost precariously on top of another boulder overlooking Lamai Beach. Most of the time Overlap Stone and its surrounding areas are empty so it is a great place to go see especially if you want to spend some time with nature away from the crowds. This is a place where tourists don't visit much but they are missing out on some beautiful views that you shouldn't be missing.

2

Wat Khunaram

Finding yourself in a resort in Koh Samui means you should be visiting a temple or two to get a taste of the rich Buddhist ideals that make up Thai culture. Our recommendation is Wat Khunaram; an important place of worship for Thais. The temple is mostly famous due to the Mummified Monk, the remains of a monk who lived in the temple for years that have been seemingly well-preserved sitting in a meditative position. It might seem a bit morbid, but the Thais believe that he has been preserved thus thanks to the awareness with which he lived his life.

3

Elephant Rock

A unique rock formation easily visited from Avani+ Samui Resort that is located between Silver Beach and Chaweng Beach. The rock does not, as you might think, resemble an elephant but is so monstrous which is why it has been given that name by the locals. If you don't mind a bit of a hike, there's a spectacular view from the top that you can enjoy.

4

Silver Beach

One of Koh Samui's best-kept secrets is Silver Beach. Some people believe that Silver Beach is the prettiest beach on the island. There are some spectacular views, bright blue waters as well as some rocks that you can climb up and lounge on. The clear water is also great for snorkeling thanks to some beautiful marine life, especially colourful schools of fish.

5

Na Muang Waterfall

Wake up early if you are planning to head out to Na Muang Waterfall which overlooks the jungles and have some fresh pools in which you can bathe. The waterfall is not just a beautiful location, it also gives you unparalleled views of the rest of Koh Samui. Make sure that you visit early in the morning so you can watch the sunrise as well so you can capture some unreal photographs for your Instagram. It is a great way to reconnect with nature and go back to your roots.
