The Aim of the Conference: This conference will provide a guide to the dynamic fields of neuroscience and brain research, including practical strategies and applications to enhance learning. Sessions are aimed at learning providers of all age ranges from early childhood to adult learners.The objective is to connect educators, scientists and researchers to develop a greater understanding into the latest research in brain function and how this can assist teachers.
20th - 22nd September 2013 Nanjing International School In 1998 Dylan Wiliam along with Paul Black authored the highly influential 'Inside the Black box': Raising Standards Through Classroom Assessment. Since then Dylan has worked with educators around the world in developing research based formative assessment strategies.
Overview: There is now a large and growing evidence base that helping teachers develop their use of minute-to-minute and day-by-day assessment is one of, if not the most powerful ways to improve student learning. However, adopting formative assessment, or assessment for learning as it is sometimes called, involves far more than adding a few "quick fixes" to teachers' classroom repertoires.

CLEF 2013: Call for Proposals Due 10 June, 2013
CLEF is an annual event dedicated to bringing together K-16 teachers, scholars, educational administrators, policymakers and other professionals in the field of Chinese language education worldwide to share best practices, research findings and inspiring ideas.
Hosted by the Chinese Language Education and Research Center (CLERC) and in collaboration with the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS), the 4th CLEF will be held at the Westin San Francisco Airport, Oct. 18-19, 2013. Under the conference theme “Chinese: 21st Century Skill”, we welcome proposals for 30-minute sessions in the following topics and the topic of your choice:
• Techniques that today’s Chinese language educators must have
• Technology in and out of the classroom
• Research findings and the impact on K-16 Chinese language education
• Programs building, transitioning and expanding
Please submit your proposal online by June 10, 2013. The maximum length of a proposal shall be 450 words (in English or Chinese). Notice of proposal review results will be sent out via email by July 19, 2013. “Edu Plurk” is a dedicated learning community of passionate educators who infuse technology in their pedagogy.
This emerging community first started on Plurk, where they exchange and share their best practice in teaching from K-12.
The “Edu Plurk” Annual Conference is sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Nantou County Government. It is different to the traditional Teachers Training but to in an “un-conference” format that offers innovative ideas and discussion forum. The conference aims to promote develop student-centered, responsible, independent learning and to nurture the moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic sterile balanced digital citizens.
The Annual Conference seeks for a variety of learning and teaching resources and instructional pedagogy that will help the front line teachers to infuse technology to enhance learning, and students to apply information technology skills in their learning as well as in their daily life, and for schools to create a high-quality learning environment.
