The first item of food on our list of healthy food is, of course, the ever-popular superfood – spinach. You would have only heard good things about this vegetable if you grew up watching Popeye the Sailor Man, and spinach is full of nutrients, Vitamin A, folate and Vitamin K while being low on calories. Walnuts carry far more antioxidants than any other type of nuts and are full of Vitamin E and healthy fats. It is a great source of omega 3 oils if you don't eat fish as well. It can be had simply as a snack alternative whenever you are hungry. So make sure to have a pack in your purse or bag or a box with your lunch whether you are hunkered down at an office or working on the go you can always have some on hand. Beets are said to be good for lowering blood pressure and for enhanced brain function. It is rich in Vitamin C, magnesium and folate and when added to a salad makes for a delicious and crunchy meal. Asian countries also have pickled and cooked beets which are delicious in their own way.

Recently, the avocados have achieved royalty status as a superfood that is healthy and delicious. Science backs the fact that two avocados a week will provide your body with a host of benefits including vitamin B6, folate and monosaturated healthy fats. The fruit is seasonal and if you don't want to mess with the ecosystem it should stay that way. A little vinegar in your avocado for breakfast makes for an absolutely delicious and wholesome meal.
