Life-Changing Maldives Experiences – For a vacation by the seas

Ever been to the Maldives before? If you have then you might have already experienced a few of the thing on this list. But, for those who have never visited this archipelago, read through and your interest is sure to be piqued! You might even plan your next trip to the Maldives.

1

Snorkelling

It comes as no surprise that the snorkelling experience in the Maldives is on a whole new level than the rest of the world. Once you reach your Maldives water villa, the first thing you are going to notice is how clear the waters are with just a tint of blue reflecting off the white sands beneath the waters. Feel like you want to jump in right now? Well, this is possible and the resorts on the island make it even easier for you by lending out snorkelling gear free of charge in many instances. Therefore, there is no need to worry about carrying your own gear.

2

Diving

If snorkelling is said to be that much fun, then diving has to be twice as much! If you are a PADI certified diver then, you've just got to request a diving excursion at the front desk of your resort. Head out to sea and once you've entered the waters, you are in for a real treat with whale sharks, mantas and even dolphins. If you are not a pro in diving, there is no need to fret. The Maldives is full of diving schools you can sign up with for a 4-day course for your initial certification. A few hotels by chains like Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spa might offer facilities for this as well.

3

Dolphin watching

Unlike in other dolphin watching spots, in the Maldives, spotting these creatures of the deep blue are quite a common occurrence. These friendly creatures love to swim circling the boat while a few would read your mind and jump out to pose for your photo. You'll never be bored when on a dolphin-watching cruise here.

4

Visit the islands

Apart from you're your resort island are hundreds of others our there which are inhabited, abandoned or resort islands. So why not go island hopping? Start with one of the resident islands that were made available to tourists only about 10 years ago. This way you'll be able to witness first-hand what the Maldivian culture is like. The locals are usually friendly, curious and are fond of children!

5

Boduberu Dance

If you are visiting the resident islands, you will come across the Boduberu Dance which is one of the traditional dances in the Maldives. In the beginning, the beat of the drums is at a slow pace, while about 20 men begin to sing. As the song goes on it gets faster and faster and so does the dancing! It is truly a great experience to have. A few resorts invite Boduberu Dancers occasionally for a bit of evening entertainment. If you really want to see them in action, inquire at the front desk of your hotel.
