5 Things You Shouldn’t Do When Lockdown Ends – Pace Yourself for Normal!

Lockdown induced by the coronavirus pandemic is slowly beginning to be lifted all around the world. In Sri Lanka people have started going back to work alongside social distancing measures. While returning to normal is necessary to kickstart the economy follow these measures to stay safe.

1

Don't Toss Your Face Masks

Don't throw your masks out. You will need them for quite a while. You may have to get used to wearing them daily at least when you are travelling especially if you are using public transport. While wearing face masks and other kinds of coverings may slowly be weaned away at your workplaces, unless you are working in the service industry and are constantly meeting people. There will be sanitations, sanitizers, gloves and other forms of PPE made mandatory in certain areas. Make sure you adhere to these rules.

2

Don't Go to the Gym Without Planning

Only go to the gym if you have to. Try to do as much of your exercises in your home, but if you must go to the gym have a plan that you adhere to before, when and after you get there. Even if you sanitize properly you need to consider the gym equipment and whether they have been properly sanitized. Remember that a gym is a closed place where people sweat and breathe and can easily become a breeding ground for the virus.

3

Don't Throw a Party at Home or Go Bar Hopping

Things to do in Sri Lanka are slowly increasing but parties are still banned so make sure you don't throw parties or go bar hopping. Crowding anywhere should be frowned upon as there could be asymptomatic people in these crowds that could end up infecting the whole crowd. If you must have a drink, buy a couple of bottles and take them home where you can drink in comfort and relative safety.

4

Don't Stop Washing Your Hands

This goes without saying. You should always wash your hands before you touch anything especially if you have been outside. Virus aside it enables you to follow the basic hygiene and is safe in general whether or not you are trying to keep yourself safe from a pandemic. Tourist resorts like Heritance Hotels Sri Lanka will practice all these important health and safety measures within the hotel premises after they are open to the public. Washing your hands and basic hygiene should become a habit that everyone should follow going forward into the future.

5

Don't Visit High-Risk People

Despite almost everyone getting the pandemic regardless of physical health and fitness level, there are certain senior citizens and immunocompromised people who have been in quarantine for their safety. Don't visit your immunocompromised friends and family yet, give yourself some time to go see them, especially since you aren't sure if you are an asymptomatic carrier. If you are living with immunocompromised people, try not to go out too much as you could put them at risk. It's a slow road to recovery but we are slowly getting there.
