You can get Singapore Chicken rice at a street food stand or in the buffet at one of the luxurious hotels in Singapore. It has found its way into the list of national dishes in Singapore. The rice is cooked in a clear chicken broth and results in a delicious succulent flavour.

Singapore Chili Crab

What is known as the most prominent and popular national dish of Singapore is the Singapore Chili crab. It is made from Sri Lankan King crabs cooked in a rich tomato and chilli gravy. Barbecued stingray is often served with chilli sambal and wrapped in a banana leaf. It is a spicy and flavourful dish that is grilled in the banana leaf and so contains a distinct taste. You can eat it with lime and tomato pickle.

Fried Hokkien Mee is rice vermicelli noodles and thick egg noodles that are cooked together in a seafood broth. It is either topped with shrimp, pork belly, squid and lard and in most cases all four of these toppings followed by a generous amount of hot chilli sauce.

Simple and delicious, Kaya toast is Singapore's national breakfast meal. The toast is grilled on a charcoal flame and covered generously in coconut jam.
