One day tour Itinerary in Ella – For a productive day of sightseeing

Be it your first time or nth time visiting Sri Lanka, if you have been to Ella once, you are bound to keep coming back for more. More of what? More of nature, clean air, cool climes and all the other little glories the place has to offer. Here's a brief guide for a short stay.

1

Best time to visit

The perfect time to visit Ella would be at the very beginning of the year (from January to April). The rainiest months are from October to mid-December. Although, the region is actually an all-year-round crowd puller! So, visit any time, but keep in mind that unlike the coastal areas of Sri Lanka, this place is cold due to high altitude. Therefore, bring along a scarf and jacket to keep you all warmed up.

Places to stay

If you are going to be here for a night or two, then you'll need a decent place for the night. There are many accommodation options in Ella that are nestled away in the mountains. Most of the places are quite scenic as well. If luxury is what you need, something on the luxury side, places like 98 Acres are available. There are camps and other stay options as well that are not hard to find.

3

Visit a tea plantation

Of all the things to do in Ella, this is one you simply can't miss out on! This area is filled with terraces of tea bushes that are neatly planted in rows. Just looking at them from afar is breath-taking but seeing them in person is a whole new experience. There are plenty of tea plantations in the area that offer tours of the plantations and the factory and its processes.

4

Climb Little Adam's Peak

Little Adam's Peak or Ella Rock is a wonderful climb and rewarding indeed with lovely views although not as high as Adam's Peak itself. The climb starts close to the hotel 98 Acres, the hike isn't so hard. Be prepared with good shoes and sunblock, the climb will take about 45-minutes to 1 hour.

5

Check out Nine Arch Bridge

The Nine Arch Bridge is located in Demodara and is one of the most photographed areas in Sri Lanka. You are free to visit at any time for some lovely captures, but beware, there is a train that runs several times a day in the bridge. Make sure you stay out of the way before the train reaches the bridge. Below the bridge is yet another tea plantation.

6

Visit Ravana Falls

This is one of the most amazing waterfalls in Sri Lanka and the widest waterfall as well. it is just an hour off Ella's main road. The spot is popular with both locals and tourists. The waterfall was named after an ancient King who kidnapped a princess and hid her in a cave behind the waterfall. For more information on places to visit in Ella, Ella Sri Lanka contains accounts on various activities available.
