Insta worthy places in Ella – For the captures of the year!

Ella is the place where the famous Ceylon tea is cultivated and if you are a tea lover, visiting one of the tea plantations here will only make you love tea even more! Factories like Bluefield and Uva Halpewatte Tea Factory situated close to the town are two of the well-renowned places for tea tours. If you happen to visit during the dry season which is at the beginning of the year, note that production takes place only on Saturday and Sunday. So, time your visit for the weekend so you'll be able to see all the processes linked to the production of tea. Also, there is no better place for a killer Instagram photo than one with the lush terraces of tea as your background.

If you love nature, then one of the things to do in Ella would be to hike to the summit of Little Adam's Peak. This is not as high as the actual Adam's Peak located in the neighbouring city of Hatton but is definitely worth your time if you want some good captures. It is an easy way to the top and suitable for hikers at the beginner level as well. For the best shots, it is recommended that you wake up early and head to the summit before dawn to watch the sunrise. The reward will be an image that will be engraved in your mind forever.

This is yet another climb that's a must-do if you are an experienced hiker. The climb is tougher than Little Adam's Peak, but once you've reached the top your eyes will be glued to the magical scenery. There are no steps here and the trail is unclear but follow the instructions online if you are not comfortable with going with a guide. Beware of locals who deliberately steer you off the right path only to get a tip from you to help you find the correct one. Being a mere 10-minutes' drive away from the centre of the city, this is one of the most touristy places you'll visit in Ella. Various tents have set up here and you will be able to purchase a snack or two if you really to. The waterfall can be viewed for just Rs. 25/= which is pretty cheap. The locals even bathe in the freezing waters of the waterfall here. It's an interesting experience to have. Not to mention the cascading veil of water is a beauty and deserves an Insta story.

The best part about visiting this waterfall is that you could hike up to the very top and have fun splashing around in the pools that are high up. The best place for pictures would be on the very edge of the waterfall where you will be able to see the drop.
